What is the difference between commercial soaps and natural soaps?

Natural Soap for Healthy Living

When it comes to choosing between commercial soaps and natural soaps, the differences are significant. Beyond the fact that we make our soap by hand with love and care, our soaps are free from ingredients that can be harsh on your skin. We never use sulphates, EDTA, HEDP, or other synthetic additives commonly found in commercial soap.

Commercial Soaps vs. Natural Soaps:

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS): This is a common foaming agent in commercial soaps, often derived from petroleum. While it creates a rich lather, SLS can be harsh on the skin. We avoid using it because we believe in gentle cleansing without compromising your skin's natural balance.

  • Tetrasodium EDTA: This ingredient is typically used in industrially manufactured soap bars to preserve appearance, colour, and fragrance, and to prevent the soap from going rancid. However, we choose not to use EDTA in our soaps because it acts as a penetration enhancer, which means it can break down the skin’s natural protective barrier. This could allow other ingredients to penetrate more deeply than intended, which is not aligned with our commitment to gentle, natural skincare.

Why Choose Natural Soap?

Our soaps are made with carefully selected local ingredients whenever possible, ensuring that what you put on your skin is as natural and nourishing as possible. By avoiding unnecessary chemicals and focusing on quality, natural ingredients, we aim to provide you with a product that supports healthy living and respects your skin’s needs.
